The Summit Police Department will be conducting a Roadside Safety Checkpoint on Friday July 16, 2021. The checkpoint will be in the 5600 blk. of S. Harlem Ave. in the southbound lanes and will operate from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. Operating checkpoints throughout the year helps us achieve the goal of informing thousands of motorists of the dangers of impaired driving. The Roadside Safety Checkpoint is being funded by federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation (I.D.O.T.). As partners with I.D.O.T. the Summit Police Department is focused on improving the safety of our roadways through education and enforcement.
