The Summit Police Department is announcing the next date in the 2019 series of Roadside Safety Checkpoints. The next checkpoint will be conducted on Friday June 14, 2019. The checkpoint will be on S. Harlem Ave in the southbound lanes of the 5600 block, and will operate from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. Operating checkpoints throughout the year helps us achieve the goal of reaching thousands of motorist with the message of impaired driving. The police detail is being paid for by a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation (I.D.O.T.). As partners with I. D. O. T. the Summit Police are focused on improving the safety of our roadways through education and enforcement.
